Something to consider in the methadone debate: When an addict uses heroin, the profits flow through the dealer and his supply chain all the way back to poppy farmers in Afghanistan, Mexico, et al. Everybody has to get paid. The results: More illegal drugs on the market and more burglaries and thefts to buy those drugs. At least when an addict uses methadone, the profits flow back to legal drug makers, and addicts don’t have to rob and steal to get it. I'd rather see the profits go to the legal drug makers.
