I was enjoying the 83rd Street beach July 30 when I saw a young man in his 20s throwing a metal, half-filled water bottle at a seagull. He hit the poor thing so hard he broke the seagull's neck, right in front of children. When a friend of mine confronted the young man, he said he didn't mean it. Really sir, if you weren't trying to hurt the seagull, why were you chucking a water bottle at it?
