I think a better definition for political correctness is “conforming to a belief that language and practices likely to offend people should be avoided when possible.” The opposite is not political incorrectness, it’s boorishness and insensitivity. Facing issues honestly is important and if that requires bluntness, so be it. But if it can be done tactfully and without giving (unnecessary) offense, isn’t that a better way to make friends and win allies to your cause? G.K. Chesterton said it best, “A gentleman is a one who is never unintentionally rude."
