Regarding all the spouts about the thousands of non-local, tourist vehicles on Gravel Hole Road: It is now so ridiculous that 18-wheeler tractor trailers are now re-routing off of SH 83 and SH 47 and bouncing over the speed humps to avoid two traffic lights. The latest "rolling parking lot" traffic fiasco started Thursday night, July 2 as tourists were driving down to the shore, and it was still ongoing Monday evening, July 6. Gravel Hole Road is a 25 mph speed zone with many bicycles and pedestrians, and was never intended as a major road artery.
