Why would anybody want to be a cop?

Sea Isle City - Why would anybody want to be a cop? Even if the money and benefits are really great, the hours stink and all of the danger, stress and criticism just is not worth it. Everybody acts like they know better and call all cops lazy, corrupt, or racist; even the black cops, which always baffles me. When I was a kid we feared the cops, we feared going to jail and we feared what our parents would do to us if we got in trouble. That was good, healthy fear and our world was a lot better off. We feared our teachers too. Now no one fears anything and our society is in the dumper.
