Why is the former fire chief saying he hasn't been going to call

Sea Isle City - Why is the former fire chief saying he hasn't been going to calls for the last two years if he continued to be paid by the town for being the chief? I hope the city's not still paying him. Sounds like he's trying to make excuses for his failed responsibility to train and keep records of his firemen. He then said the police send a car first, then decide on sending fire. False. They all get sent at the same time.
