Sea Isle City - What happened to the lifeguard drills on the beach? I go to the beach daily and I haven't seen a drill in years. These drills help the guards practice in a real-life setting and to be ready for a true lifesaving event. Just as important, they let the public see how the guards are ready and see their talents in real time. Why did these exercises stop? Every police, fire, and EMT has real-life drills. Schools, hospitals and other public buildings have emergency drills to keep everyone prepared. Why not beach patrols?
