Sea Isle City - Throughout the U.S., people vacation in the summer. Just like here, mountain and lakeside resorts hire young people for the season. Unfortunately, the people who run our school systems start back before Labor Day, the traditional end of vacation season. Many children can’t work the whole summer, and lose jobs to foreign students who sometimes work even past Labor Day into the “shoulder season.” High school or college, why do they need to start that early? What would be wrong with a shorter winter break, or a week longer in June before the heavy tourist season begins? It makes no sense.
