Sea Isle City - There has been much discussion in reference to problems with Sea Isle City's Volunteer Fire Department after a 20-minute response time to a vehicle/house fire. The police chief has backed the fire department and stated this was acceptable, as well as getting water on the fire in five minutes. The police chief has no firefighter training and should not be making these statements. Anyone can see that when other volunteer departments from further away arrive before their own units do, there is a major problem here. Volunteer departments can be reliable, as many are, but that has passed for this department.
