Sea Isle City - A recent NFL quarterback decided to sit during the national anthem. The American flag is a symbol of our country's values of liberty and justice for all. Not all symbols will be perceived by people in the same way. Everyone experiences symbols differently. I'm reminded of Johnny Cash's poem, "Ragged Old Flag," and I find great comfort in his words. Despite the obstacles and injustices we still need to conquer, the United States does not waver from challenges; we embrace them. The flag is bigger than any one idea, government or politician, and "she's in good shape, for the shape she's in!"
