Sea Isle City - Is it normal to shut the pumps down during a rainstorm and allow raw sewage to back up in the barrier islands? Many vacationers and homeowners were put at risk for disease. Not to mention how much raw material escaped into the back bays and ocean.

Executive Director Joseph Rizzuto of the Cape May County MUA (Municipal Utilities Authority), in an email to the Herald Aug. 4, stated, "All Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority Regional wastewater pumping stations, as well as all Regional Wastewater Treatment Facilities remained fully operational in accordance with operating procedures and treated and discharged wastewater within NJPDES permit throughout the recent event. "
