We recently had visitors from South Carolina. This was their first trip to SIC. Their observations and comments about the benches on the Promenade were interesting. They said: "Why do y'all have benches for dead people everywhere? People come here to lighten their burdens, have a good time and enjoy vacation. Don't the benches make y'all feel sad and depressed thinking of those who passed? They should be painted beautiful colors and give tribute to something happier." So I ask, "Who started the sad bench program? Is it a good thing for tourism in SIC?"
