People in the military do not have any pension contribution deducted from their salary. They are eligible to retire at 50 percent pay after 20 years of service and get medical benefits for life. Statistically they retire at a much younger age than civilian public employees. As a vet, I can tell you that not all military folks have heroic jobs, yet the public spouts over and over again begrudging pensions to cops, firemen, trash men, city clerks, toll collectors, equipment operators and all other state and city employees. Why not complain about money going to drones who never worked a day?
