The immigration problem at our southern border is a complex issue. It is not just a matter of stopping people from entering, if it was, the Trump administration would have solved the problems, or the Bush administration years before. The truth is the immigration policy game involves tradeoffs between markets, rights, culture, and security. This makes it difficult for reform. As the US struggles to meet this challenge they must keep balancing security, economic, legal, and foreign policy interests. And they are likely to encounter problems for decades to come.
