I know why some people blame/shame low-income people. It is because some low-income people feel that being low-income gives them a right to live like lowlifes. I grew up poor and was poor through my youth, but I never realized. I was taught by my parents to work as hard as I could, to keep clean physically and morally, and to be honest. We got no handouts. My folks would not have taken them if we did. Being poor is no sin. Being poor, lazy and dishonest is.
