Having many minorities as friends I can assure you if one of them wrote Art Hall's Salute to Independence Day editorial, they would not conclude as he did, that because we elected President Obama and because South Carolina elected Senator Scott, that enough progress has been made to pat ourselves on the back. This drivel was nothing more than an exercise in making white people feel ok. Maybe next time he should invite his childhood Mexican or Black friend to author an Independence day reflection instead of ordaining to speak for their American experience.
Moderator's Note: Are you "ordained"to speak for them? There was no claim that enough progress has been made , only that we continue to aspire to meet the truths set out in our founding documents.
