An Avalon spouter chimed in on the injured seagull issue, "To a SIC spouter about the injured gull: It's you who needs the nature lesson. The gull in question was not dying due to natural selection, it had a broken wing. It had most likely been struck by a car or perhaps injured by some cruel or careless human being ..." When wild animals and humans interface, and human action kills animals, it is natural selection. The ones who are faster or who learn how to avoid humans survive. No argument justifies tax dollars being spent on dying seagulls. Nobody, or no bird, lives forever.
