Rio Grande - There is an appearance of nepotism in Middle Township government, forbidden in the employee handbook, with the hiring of the business administrator’s father to work in the police department. Elected officials, please address this. The taxpayers would be grateful for your oversight.

Moderator's Note:
In response, Christopher Leusner, chief of Middle Township Police Department, informed the Herald that the charge of nepotism is incorrect, stating: “Dave Tomkinson was hired at the police department last year (2018) at my request by a different elected governing body when we had a different business administrator. Tomkinson was the most qualified person for the part-time position and recommended unanimously by myself and the command staff of the police department. I would also point out the police department reports to the director of Public Safety in our form of government, not the business administrator.”
