As a lifelong Republican, I'll be voting Democrat for the commissioner seat this year. After two decades of GOP control in Cape May County, my hometown, Rio Grande, has been marred by homelessness and drugs. My neighbor lost his job and healthcare due to Republican-led shutdowns. Our last Democratic commissioner, Mr. Van Drew, was a great community leader, and the current Democratic candidate seems reasonable, free from extremism. It's time for change.
