RE: the Herald editorial on rising cost of teacher health benefits (Part 2). Again and again we hear about this problem but never the WHY? I learned why the cost of college skyrocketed- easy loans that prompted colleges to just jack prices because the money was there for the taking, and HS curriculums that told everyone they should go to college, no matter their skill set. However, WHY is it that for decades health care costs were affordable? What changed? That is what we need to focus on. Are providers fleecing us? Do their prices need to be so high? Something changed-- What?
