Pulitzer prize winning journalist Nick Kristof, a regular CNN contributor and columnist for The New York Times points out that "a black kid in Mississippi is 2.5 times more likely to be be proficient in math and reading by 4th grade than a black kid in California." Democrats and teachers unions posit that higher pay for teachers and more money spent per pupil will automatically generate better outcomes. That appears to be false logic. Throwing more money at problems is often not the answer.
