Promotion should absolutely be earned through hard work, dedication, leadership, and performance. The problem is when those qualities are overlooked in favor of other factors. Many people quietly put their heads down, do the job, exceed expectations, and still get passed over. Respectfully, earning a promotion should mean recognizing those who have consistently demonstrated they are ready—not just telling them to wait their turn.
