Ocean City - An Upper Twp. spouter seems to harbor the incorrect impression that tourism only funds a few "temporary, low-paying jobs." Several area supermarkets are open all year because they become so profitable when the tourists come, the big hospitals only exist because of inflated summer population, builders build a steady supply of new homes for tourists, gas stations, utility workers, realtors and the entire hospitality business exist because of tourism. How many people would be out of work if there was no tourist business?
