Someone commented to a SH spout that ISO (Insurance Services Office) dictates how much apparatus is needed in Avalon and SH. That is patently false. ISO ratings are based on a point system, with a maximum of 50 points given to the fire dept. out of a total of 105.5 points. Water supply, communications and community risk reduction make up the rest of the total. There is no ISO-based reason for Avalon and SH combined to have more fire apparatus than Ocean City.
