Ocean City - No sooner did the Herald print a good, informative article on bicycling, and the spouts start up about the lack of enforcement. Cyclists riding several abreast (the law calls for single file) and running stops signs (bikes have to obey stop sings, just like cars). Perhaps the problem is not public awareness, but a lack of police enforcement. The shore towns can devote whole squads to enforcing noise ordinances, but seem to ignore bicycle violations year after year. Noisy parties can be annoying, and damage quality of life. Bike accidents can kill and maim people. Cops should read Spout Off.
