Ocean City - I have been a local, a 'shoobie,' a renter and finally a summer homeowner. No matter what my living condition nor the number of years since I had to go back to school, Sept. 1 has been a melancholy day for most of my life. Yes, it is nicer here now that the tourists are gone, but I get sad every Labor Day. It is like a memorial to the well over 60 summers that I have bid farewell to. I guess it has to do with the passage of time and our May/Dec. view of the passage of life. Good bye summer 2014.
