Ocean City spent $9,090,044 on fire protection expenses, Ocean View spent $315,000 for fire protection in 2009. However, with a tax rate of 1.487 in Dennis Township and a tax rate almost half in Ocean City at 8.76, it is easy to see that every individual Dennis Township property owner paid more for a bunch of volunteers than the taxpayers in OC. Let's not drag this out. The numbers speak for themselves. Big city or country, a career fire department is a good investment.
