Now that “No tax on tips” is the law of the land, the flavor I’m reading in comment sections on the topic is that some people are going to tip less than 20% because servers, bartenders etc. won’t pay taxes on tipped income up to $25,000. Their logic is, if I have to pay taxes on 100% of my income why should someone else be exempt from taxes on even a portion of their income. I’ll still tip at the 20% rate because it’s my opinion that restaurant servers work hard and deserve a decent wage. If customers tip less than 20% that will mean less money for those workers, not more.
