North Wildwood - The May 11 Herald contained a quote attributed to Henry George: "It is not the business of government...to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly." When people begin abusing opiates, they know the risk of becoming addicted yet still chose to do so. They would never use or buy drugs in the presence of a police officer so they also know it is wrong. Why should the government, meaning us, taxpayers be responsible for bailing out those who knowingly and foolishly become addicted? So before we start spending millions on ineffective drug rehab, let's remember this quote.
