North Wildwood - I too have been on both sides in the North Wildwood Fire Department. Stipends are fine for volunteers providing they are capable and actual firefighters, not support positions. It takes years and plenty of good training to develop new firefighters. We don't need people wearing gear that can't or won't do what is required. Response is at an all-time low. Plenty of negative comments towards the career side but the disgruntled fail to speak the truth. If the two sides can't come together, then it's time to reorganize for the community's sake. I pay taxes and I support stipends so just do the job and stop whining.
