While I am sure that his office will have "no comment" as to his motivation, our own Rep. Jeff Van Drew voted "Ney" regarding the Respect for Marriage Act, unlike 39 of his fellow Republican Congressman who voted "Yeah" because the year is 2022. This Bill has nothing to do with religious freedoms but is designed to strengthen protections for same-sex and interracial marriages by requiring States to recognize marriages performed in other States and repeals the federal Defense of Marriage Act that outdatedly defined marriage as solely between a man and woman.
