Whatever their good intentions, religious groups opposed to changing morals, such as abortion or same sex marriage, are alienating a good portion of today's young people, resulting in dramatic church attendance drops as reported in various national, and even church polls. The very people expected to be tolerant, charitable and forgiving are seen as shallow, hypocritical and angry. Shouldn't sermons on love and forgiveness be preached, instead of politics or fundraising?
