Republican extremism is not the reason I became a Democrat after voting Republican for over 30 years. For me it was the economic crisis that occurred during the last Republican administration, the ever-widening gap between the ultra-rich and the rest of us, and the fact that the middle class is under-represented. That's enough reason without even adding women, minorities and the young into the mix.
