Built probably in the 1930s, I am not surprised the house in Grassy Sound slipped into the water. It had been settling for the past few years and most certainly needed support pilings beneath its foundation. My question is who decided the elevation that these homes would be built to, considering they all appear to be the same and prone to flooding at time of astronomical tides and/or flooding. Another 3-feet would have helped. I believe they are squatters anyway. But it could have been worse. With winds that strong, a fire would have wiped them all out. Who now pays for the cleanup?
