I think as an island community, street sweepers are a waste of taxpayer money. Not many barrier island communities in New Jersey employ street sweepers simply because they do not harbor city streets with grime more closely associated with manufacturing, factories, junk yards, etc., items one would see in an urban town. In my suburban central NJ town, which has a main street downtown and is 25 square miles in size (population 28,000), we don't even have a street sweeper. My only conclusion is that NW and WW need a reason to spend your tax dollars and employ a friend or family member.
