I support the island's firemen and police, and nobody is trash talking. What we, taxpayers are basically saying is that with a small, winter population, the island as a whole has way too many full-time police and firemen employed, which is resulting in larger than normal property taxes for a small town. Most of us taxpayers did not grow up here, but in larger cities, and this is what we compare the island's staff levels to. I understand full-time jobs are scarce on the island, but it should not be at the taxpayers' expense.
