For all of you who are proud to being "informed" by getting your news from people on social media, ignorance is more and more bliss. Meta is abandoning the use of independent fact checkers on Facebook and Instagram, replacing them with X-style "community notes" where commenting on the accuracy of posts is left to users. Why you ask? Trump and his Republican allies have criticized Meta for its fact-checking policy calling it censorship of right-wing voices as they lied or invented alternative facts.
