It also was the result of Republican patriotism in Congress who accepted the facts and did not try to distort or deflect them. They did not put party over country. What we see now is endless tweeting of falsehoods and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories coming directly from our president, and a Republican-controlled Congress enabling, defending, and normalizing lies.
