North Cape May - Some spouters commented on the free meals given to some students in schools - breakfast, lunch, dinner, and food for weekends. There also are numerous backpack and school supply drives taken up for kids. I’m sure some of this need is valid. However, I also suspect that some parents simply think they are entitled to free handouts. If a parent legitimately is unable to provide basic needs for their child (like food), that’s one thing, and we must be charitable, but if a capable parent expects the government and charities to shoulder their parental responsibilities, that’s another.
