North Cape May - Regarding the new amounts charged to municipalities from the county shelter: How about they don't keep unwanted pets for five years living in a dog run? How much could be saved without the staff and food needed to prolong lives? The shelter should provide stray services, and make an attempt to find homes or rescues for these dogs, not warehouse them. No one goes for a dog anymore, all we see are ads for pit bulls. Also, volunteers could do much more; I believe they are underused because some worry about losing jobs.
