We have the same issue in North Cape May and what me and my neighbors did was purchase the Have-A-Heart traps. You can safely trap the squirrels. After trapping them, you have to take them at least five miles from your property. The squirrel population is certainly growing but this is one way to keep them out of your neighborhood. I take mine to the bird sanctuary in Diamond Beach.
