North Cape May - After 27 years in the USCG and 3 Cutters and a patrol boat I've seen my share of floating whales. Whales die! Most sink to the bottom and are never seen, they become Crab and Lobster food along with any other scavenger on the bottom.
Now, some are hit by vessels, rarely but they are. There is also a know USN collision with a sub and a whale. The whales washing up this time of year are in a migration pattern. Many things cause their deaths but I hear people blaming man kind. If you want to ban shipping and the military and save the whales, well thats a stretch, use your heads folks!
