A Press of Atlantic City article Nov. 15 was disturbing. The percentage of unemployment in Cape May County is staggering. The individuals who were interviewed have a strong work ethic, but because of the local economy they are only able to obtain the very basic living standards. In contrast, the many well-to-do folks with Social Security, pensions and/or other monies that are invested are gaming the system. Maybe the unemployment benefits should be increased for the working poor, and eliminated for those who spend the winters in the Sunshine State with N.J. unemployment monies.
