I recently visited Rehoboth for a social event, and discussed many different topics on the difference between NJ and DE. A discussion about property taxes by one woman illustrated the vast difference. A $1 million dollar home, a block and a half from the ocean in Rehoboth, DE was taxed at $1,200. When I explained that our home, assessed at $500,000 in Lower Twp., was taxed at $8,000, there was an uneasy silence. Why can there be such a difference in taxes? Where are all our tax dollars going?
