North Cape May

I know there are bigger problems in the world, but why would the Townbank Homeowners Association, for their festival, take a newly-paved street and use bright orange paint to write numbers along approximately a five-block area? There were more than 160 merchants for which each was painted a number on the street. Did not anyone ever think of chalk or washable paint? I enjoy the festival, but think that it is an extremely poor choice to mark up the streets. Such a shame to deface the streets for a year because of a one-day event! They should be made to cover it all up with black paint.
