A few spouts about churches and money recently. To answer one reader’s question, churches have routine expenses like utilities, insurance, maintenance, salaries, vehicles, office supplies, church supplies, emergencies, etc. They also do lots to help others with their funds, e.g. 12/23 Herald article: Lighthouse Church Group Aids N.C. Flood Victims. Can churches misuse money? Sadly yes. We hear about it from time to time. Even Jesus had this problem. He and his apostles kept a modest “purse” for their expenses and to help the poor. Judas was keeper of the purse. … Need I say more?
