Excuse me for not feeling sympathetic to those who are applying for mortgages, wringing their hands over the current interest rates. My Vietnam Veteran husband got a VA mortgage in 1974 and the rate was 9,5% and we had to have another 1/2% on top of that for insurance. Then, that rate was considered a bargain. We struggled to pay our monthly mortgage bill for 30 years. I believe it was in the 1980’s others filed for bankruptcies claiming their house was worth less than what they paid for it, (“underwater”)and defaulted on their loans. I don't agree with college loan forgiveness, either.
