Do you really think people aren’t working because they’re getting $300/week? Rentals cost over $1000/mo and are disappearing rapidly from artificially inflated properties prices ,snapped up by out-of-towners then , airbnb’d and vrbo’d. There are literally no year round rentals. That’s the real reason; our kids are leaving because jobs are seasonal and they can’t support their families.
