Nanobubbler machines being used to keep algae under control in the reflecting pool were removed on June 12 ahead of a Trump’s UFC event. The machines were bulky, fenced off, needed large generators and were ”visually inconvenient”. So the bubblers had to go. They were offline for 36 hours. When reinstalled, algae blooms were already spreading. City tap water contains phosphates which feed algae. So the administration filled a shallow outdoor basin with algae food, removed the equipment suppressing the algae, staged the photo-op, and then discovered that algae behaves like algae.
