Middle Township - As a kid, rainy days at the shore were wonderful. All the kids would surround the porch table working on a jigsaw puzzle or watching someone move the pegs in the IQ challenge while the rain pounded on the awnings. Aunts in rockers read or worked crossword puzzles while Gram crocheted and sang off key to the radio. An afternoon at the arcade was followed by switching places with adults around the table playing cards and kids curled up on couches with books or napping and perhaps dreaming of riding the waves tomorrow.
